As a lab Engineer, your responsibilities encompass the design and operation of experimental equipment. You will be an integral part of a diverse and international team that includes scientific and technical personnel. Your ingenuity will be put to the test as you devise innovative solutions to advance our world-class scientific research.

• Design, Construct, and Maintain Experimental Setups: Create and manage various experimental configurations, with a special emphasis on control systems and electronics (mechatronics) within the realm of solar fuels research.
• Instrument Oversight: Supervise the utilization, operation, and maintenance of instruments. Provide guidance to new users and act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting. Organize equipment maintenance and repairs, procure consumables and instrument components, and oversee their installation.
• Equipment Procurement: Offer insights into the acquisition of new research equipment. Stay updated on emerging equipment and processes in the market and advise your supervisor and colleagues regarding innovative technologies and potential applications in our current and future research.
• Documentation: Thoroughly document the experimental setups, including electronic schematics in WSCAD, user instructions, and safety protocols.
• Onboarding: Introduce new team members to laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
• Participation: Engage in meetings related to research, infrastructure, organization, and safety. Contribute actively to cultivating a strong safety culture.

Wat verwachten we van jou?

• Bachelor degree in mechatronics or electrical engineering.
• Demonstrate a staunch commitment to safety, both personal and collective.
• Proficient in both English and preferably Dutch, enabling effective communication.
• Possess a problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to challenges.
• Display multitasking prowess, enabling seamless transitions between various projects and tasks.
• Proficient time and project management skills.
• Prior experience with vacuum systems, pneumatics, and familiarity with WSCAD would be advantageous.
